|
You may
bring with you goods representing a total value of NOK 6000 free
of customs and excise duties.
Within
the limit of NOK 6000, you are allowed to bring with you the
following articles free of customs and excise duty: |

Alcoholic beverages:

Tobacco:
-
Meat, meat products and cheese:
-
Currency:

When
you enter Norway, you may bring with you notes and coins
(Norwegian and foreign) to a total value of NOK 25
000 (equivalent of approx £ 1900). If the currency you are carrying exceeds this amount,
notification must be made on a prescribed form and given to the customs
authorities upon arrival in Norway. The relevant form can be
obtained from the customs authorities. There is no limit on travellers' cheques.

In
your luggage or for your own consumption you may bring with
you meat/meat products, milk/dairy products, eggs and other
animal foodstuffs from EEA countries. Possibilities to
import such products from countries outside the EEA have to
be investigated in advance in each individual case.

You
must be at last 20 year of age to bring in spirits and at
least 18 to bring in wine, beer, cigarettes and tobacco
products.
-
Children below the age of 12 are not allowed to bring with
them any customs- and excise-free foodstuffs with the
exception of soft drinks, chocolates and sweets.

Import
of the following goods is prohibited without special permission:
Drugs,
medicines and poisons (minor quantities of medicine for personal
use are permitted), alcohol over 60 % per vol., weapons and
ammunition, fireworks, potatoes, mammals, birds and exotic
animals, plants/parts thereof for cultivation.

You may
only bring medicine for your personal use, and you should have a
letter from your doctor attesting to your need for the medicine.
If you
are entering Norway with goods or currencies in excess of the
permitted limit, you have to notify the customs authorities
accordingly of your own accord. It is a punishable offence to
give incorrect information to the customs authorities.

When you are leaving Norway: |

You may take with you Norwegian and foreign
bank notes and coins at a total amount of NOK 25 000. Should
the amount you are taking with you exceed the above limit
you have to declare this on a form provided by the customs
authorities upon request. This form has to be handed over to
the customs officer at border crossing. There is no limit
for travellers' cheques.

It is against the law to take endangered
animal and plant species as well as products thereof out of
Norway. Examples of endangered species which in Norway are
covered by these regulations are wolf, arctic fox, wolverine
as well as some birds of prey. Export of the eggs of
endangered bird species is prohibited as well.

Antiques and ancient objects of artistic,
cultural or historical value may not be taken out of the
country without special permission.
